City Books is an independent bookshop founded and run by Paul and Inge Sweetman. We pride ourselves in promoting old fashion values, whilst using the best of modern technology.

Our literary events provide a fantastic opportunity to hear authors present their new books. Forthcoming events include talks from Anthony Bourdain, Will Self, Steven Berkoff, Dom Joly, Chris Mullin, Will Hutton, Iain M Banks Audrey Niffenegger and Grayson Perry. Tickets are available from City Books.

City Books will also be selling signed copies of Ellen MacArthur's new book Full Circle at Komedia on 14 September, when Ellen will be reflecting on her spectacular, record-breaking, non-stop solo circumnavigation of the globe. Tickets are available from the Komedia website.

City Books stock a wide range of carefully selected books. Subjects include fiction, poetry, children's books, cookery, art, business and travel. We also stock an extensive range of local books.

We are open 9.30 to 6.00 Monday to Saturday, and 11.00 to 16.30 Sunday.
